Title: GA: Alt 27 (Newnan) north of Warm Springs
Post by: mapcat on March 20, 2022, 12:49:35 pm
The route north of Warm Springs is being reworked. Between the north end of Juke Line Rd and GA 194, it is closed. At the railroad, the overpass has been removed, and the road ends at a grassy mound (the new railroad bed), which suggests that the closure is permanent. Juke Line is being used as a detour rather than an official rerouting.

This one is confusing to me.  Drove through there last fall and noticed the detour.  From what I can see on GDOT site, there was talk of a bridge replacement for the railroad there back in 2015.  Current completion date says 2020, but clearly not finished.  Sat view seems to show a new rail line and bridge being built over US 27 Alt there.

I do see the mound of dirt you talk about in street view from 2021. I can only assume there to prevent a big truck from coming down road during construction.

This sentence from the project description leads me to believe this is only temporary (though very long term):
The new bridge of like kind will be built in the original location and the railroad will be shifted back to its original location.

Is there a desire to add the JukeLineRd points?

As far as I'm concerned, no. I drove the detour plus what I could of the actual road past the barricades and consider it clinched.
