Title: IN: IN 9 Reroute in Shelbyville

SR 9 no longer goes through downtown Shelbyville. it now follows SR 44 East to I-74 rides 74 west to its old alignment. it is signed very well and on all of the BGS. but for some reason they made new 74 signs on 44 that show I-74 West SR 9 North, but forgot to add US 421 North to that sign. Looks like maybe Shelbyville requested this to take trucks out of their downtown? they are reconstructing that portion and removed the square.

Thanks. MicRd point (not in use) moved to the MicRd point on IN 44. Do you know if the truck route is still signed, or has been altered in any way?

Changed in my local copy.

My understanding in the below responses to the message I linked to is that IN 9 took over the IN 9 TRUCK Routing.

My understanding in the below responses to the message I linked to is that IN 9 took over the IN 9 TRUCK Routing.

The aaroads post described a routing following IN 9 into the downtown area and then following IN 44 from there, unless the poster meant IN 44 east of the city when they said "Broadway".

My description was for northbound. so if you were on NB SR 9 entering Shelbyville this is the route:

SR 9 joins SR 44 now and turns right at Broadway, they're both co-signed over to I-74. SR 9 joins I-74 West to the old SR 9 exit and SR 9 goes north on its old alignment from there. and the reverse for SB.

I agree that the routing described does not make much sense.

I'll wait before submitting the edits in case someone with a better understanding of the situation can confirm the routing.

Oh, I did not notice earlier that IN 9 TRUCK had two portions...

What was IN 9 between Broadway and I-74/US 421 is no longer a signed highway

What was only IN 44 between Harrison St and Progress Rd is now IN 44 and IN 9

What was IN 44 and TRK 9 between Progress Rd and I-74/US 421 is now IN 44 and IN 9 but not TRK 9

What was I-74/US 421 between exits 113 and 116 is now I-74/US 421/IN 9

What was TRK 9 between Broadway St and Harrison St is still TRK 9

Super. Thanks. Your reply beat INDOT's, and more than likely is more detailed and easy to follow.

A couple of related label changes:

IN 9:  IN44Trk>-IN9Trk_N

IN 44:  IN9Trk_S>-IN9Trk

(and thank you cabiness42 for the clarification)
