Seems we have DE-1 going 1 exit too far North. Seems it ends @ Exit 165 (I-95), not at Exit 166 (DE-58).

I sent DelDOT an email on this because I know that it has been a debate over the last few years due to newer signage stating that it ends at I-95 instead of the historical official end at DE 58, but even Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delaware_Route_1) has now truncated it to I-95.

but even Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delaware_Route_1) has now truncated it to I-95.
That's a main reason why I posted about it.
From Wikipedia:
The DE 1 designation ends at an interchange with I-95 and DE 7 continues north along the freeway to the DE 58 interchange, from which point DE 7 turns into a divided highway with at-grade intersections.

Wiki[citation needed]pedia should not be regarded as a worthwhile primary source.
Their sources? Same thing goes for Google Maps.
DelDOT highway map? I don't see anything necessarily pointing to that same conclusion.
That said, ROUTES shapefiles (source unknown) dated 2014-06-13 have the 1<->7 switch @ I-95.

So this is the photo that started the debate. I thought it had an I-95 shield on it but apparently not.

Relooking into this as I have not gotten a response from DelDOT. The Traffic Counts Map definitely shows the switchover at I-95. (https://deldot.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=4f76a1fa5b5c493cb3e1fad44a50dad1)
I resent my previous DelDOT email with this information. I am not entirely sold on truncating it yet.

To make things weirder, now I am wondering if I should extend it to DE 4 (https://www.google.com/maps/@39.6976995,-75.6514528,3a,75y,177.48h,90t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sZb01GXjb_62oqeD_i0bPVQ!2e0!7i16384!8i8192) based on the 103 mile marker and this sign (https://www.google.com/maps/@39.6982533,-75.6513921,3a,75y,200.48h,94.75t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sULbmzFf9VE838jv3pRiy7A!2e0!7i16384!8i8192).
I never got a response from DelDOT.

Signage about where exactly DE 1 ends is not consistent, so what

Zoom in closely on the traffic counts map and it actually agrees with this:

The road is labeled "DE 7;DE 4" immediately north of the intersection but "DE 1;DE 7 immediately south of it".
So... yeah I think we need to extend DE 1 to end at the southern DE 4/7 junction. Signage about this is isn't entirely consistent, but that is what is shown on paper. And the general rule of thumb is to go with what is on paper if signage is not consistent.

That layer comes from inconsistent OSM data; note how when you get south of AAA Boulevard it becomes DE 7, just like OSM.

Oh bleh. OK so if we go back to the tags in the traffic count data, it's 1 up to 95, then 7 north of 95... but it's also only just 1 immediately south of 95, with 7 having a gap. I could see this being interpreted as 1 ending at 95 there, and 7 just not being shown between 95 and where it leaves 1 because both routes are not shown where there is a concurrency. But this doesn't explicitly mean 1 ends at 95, it could just mean the primary flips from 1 to 7 at 95.
So... yeah need a more conclusive official answer than we've got to change anything I'd say.

After Duke87's original post, I am leaning towards extending DE 1 to DE 4, but I want to leave this open for further discussion for now.

Did you read my reply about why the argument for extending is not so strong?

Yes, I did, and I am still on the side of extending it due to the 103 mile marker north of DE 4 being the tiebreaker IMO.

Extension to DE 4 made. (https://github.com/TravelMapping/HighwayData/pull/6451)
