Title: QC: A-85Not/QC-115 transition
Post by: rickmastfan67 on June 06, 2024, 07:12:18 am
It honestly seems that the transition between the routes isn't @ Exit 47 any longer.  It seems like it's another ON-17/417 transition type of thing. lol.

There's currently a NB A-15 shield over 1km south of the end of the divided highway (https://maps.app.goo.gl/V9ji4qNxWYbTgHfKA).

Now, there's no shields at the transition point from 4 to 2 lanes, but I assume that's where the official swap of the designations is currently.

The A-85/QC 185 endpoints conform to our usual practice of using the last interchange as the endpoint. That is what we did with the north end of A-55/south end of QC 155.

Construction is underway on connecting the two A-85 segments and eliminating QC 185, planned to be complete in 2026. Even before the project is complete, A-85Not might get extended to a new interchange west of exit 47. Either will make this issue go away for A-85.

I would wait on A-85, and also leave A-55 alone.

Well, we recently extended I-40 past it's final exit due to it's End/Begin shield location in NC.

Also, if using the last interchange as the end point, we'd have lost almost 3 miles on ON-417 (https://travelmapping.net/hb/showroute.php?units=miles&r=on.on417&lat=45.436767&lon=-76.430383&zoom=14) which is clearly signed as part of ON-417 before it transitions into ON-17.

Just wanted to point out these other examples.
