Title: 10 Years of Travel Mapping
Post by: Jim on January 09, 2025, 09:14:43 am
With the calendar flipped to 2025, I was noticing that it's now been 10 years since CHM went dormant and a group of us started to discuss the possibility of a replacement (https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=14801.0) that has become today's Travel Mapping project.  I think it would be fun to recall various milestones in the project's history as their 10th anniversaries come up in 2025 and 2026.  Please feel free to post when you notice we've reached the anniversary of a signficant TM-related event from 2015.

This week will mark the 10th anniversary of this AARoads Forum thread (https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=14801.0) that began the discussions about the demise of CHM and ideas about how to create its replacement that would become Travel Mapping later in 2015.

It's hard to believe that it's been 10 years.

I haven't been good at all about calling out the 10-year anniversaries of TM development milestones.  Looking back over at the Travel Mapping threads on AARoads and the GitHub commit history, we're at the point where things were really ramping up toward the opening up of Travel Mapping to general use in late summer 2015.  August 2015 saw the total reorganization of the web front end code into the general structure we have today (much of which lasted until the big 2020 changes).
