NCDOT has announced that the Rockingham Bypass will open Tuesday. (https://www.ncdot.gov/news/press-releases/Pages/2025/01-24-2024-rockingham-bypass-open.aspx)

Discussion on AA Roads say that the bypass. The most recent (at time of writing) discusses NCDOT officials asking where the US220 number misinformation came from (it was their organisation cutting corners!) - it's signed as I-73/I-74, with the I-74 signs continuing along the US74 southern bypass, with I-73 ending at US74/US74Bus (exit 16 of I-73) and I-74 presumably ending at the other US74/US74Bus junction (US74 exit 321).
Hopefully some pictures or video come out to confirm the forum posts. For such a major opening, the lack of opening day news I've found is strange.

I have added the bypass but am holding off on extending I-74 with US 74 and replacing I-74futroc until there is some confirmation with how far I-74 is posted.

I was waiting on Bob Malme's website update before discussing this further.

mapmikey, word of advice for 'update entries', but when you're extending something like an interstate, you should mention what the 'old' end was. This is so people can accurately update their files if necessary.
For both I-73 & I-74 entries, you had the following: "extended south as new freeway to US 74"
Something like the following would have been better: "Extended south from Exit 22 to US 74 as a new freeway." ("Exit 22(73)" in I-74's entry.)
Doing that provides a ton of information to users, and doesn't take up that more extra space. :)
BTW, you also referenced the wrong I-74 segment in your news update (referenced the 'Mount Airy' segment). I quickly submitted a fix for that for Jim to pull in, so you don't have to worry about that. ;)

Poor Bob, while his site is excellent for NC interstates, is carrying the weight on this one. It's both a shame, and strange, that local sources have been so poor at being up-to-date here.

I-74 is signed on the bypass along with US 74. I drove west from the NC 38 interchange to the new freeway. Prior to that I passed through the junctions while driving NC 177, NC 38, and NC 381, where I-74 is signed at the ramps. It seems reasonable to extend I-74 along the future I-74 segment to the east end of the freeway. I didn't notice any I-73 signs until I reached the new segment of the bypass.

What about exit numbers? Were they still US-74's, or were they updated to become I-74 ones?

They're in the 300's.

US-74's then still.

There is an END sign for I-74 at the east end of the Rockingham Bypass, and it is signed WB on US 74 there as well.

route extended

In regard to I-73FutRoc, I think it should be extended west to I-73 along I-74/US 74 or just plain removed.
-
One another note, I-73/74 on US 74 BUS (Rockingham) is signed as Exit 1.
