Title: TX: I-27 extension to County Road 7500
Post by: rickmastfan67 on March 18, 2025, 12:31:20 am
NOTE: This possibly hasn't happened yet, but, knowing Texas, they got the ball moving almost instantly to post shields at least once they got the FHWA approval back on Sept 5, '24.

Both Google & OSM now show this (hence this post), however, no new GSV pre-'24 in that area.  However, OSM did jump the gun here for sure, showing it back in '23 when the AASHTO approval happened.

As those on current I-27 know, the current mile markers start at Exit 1 in Lubbock and continue to 124 in Amarillo. With the designated future interstate now beginning at Laredo, those mile markers will be updated. Lubbock and Amarillo TxDOT Districts are working on a plan to update mile markers.

However, this other news article says signs will be installed 'soon'. https://www.equipmentworld.com/roadbuilding/article/15706201/texas-dot-approves-i27-expansion

The new stretch of interstate will run concurrently with U.S. Highway 87 from the current I-27 terminus in Lubbock to 0.1 mile north of County Road 7500. New I-27 signs will soon be installed.

And at the end of September '24, the 'Texas Transportation Commission' approved this too.

I thought we didn't care about signs when it came to Interstates.

I thought we didn't care about signs when it came to Interstates.

If that were the case, we'd have a TN I-69 file for the section in Memphis that both the AASHTO & FHWA approved (but TN refused to sign) @ the same time as the MS section.

Surely it's a we do and don't? We include unsigned routes, but we also wait for signage on newly approved routes, and only include signed parts of partially signed routes.
