There's a new END sign (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mGPFO0uNO0Nl4wCVm1HcYkIU6DpVEjlR/view?usp=sharing) at the cattle guard north of Corolla. Seems like the appropriate place for the north end. FWIW mile markers continued north in the sand along the beach road, but I wouldn't recommend including that.

The ArcGIS map does not reflect this (https://ncdot.maps.arcgis.com/apps/mapviewer/index.html?webmap=5d3ad78971714a30be7ff97fd580e4d5) (https://forum.travelmapping.net/index.php?topic=4889.0) and still shows it north of our current endpoint as SR 1437 to the beach area.
Maybe this new sign is more of a symbolic thing for people rather than an official thing within NCDOT. (Also I did not let myself drive to the beach area in 2022 because of the end (at least then) clearly being south of there.)
