Another observation from recent NY travels: why do some parkways, such as the Heckscher (well, Southern) end at the park entrance fee booth, while others (Wantagh, Sunken Meadow, Meadowbrook) end at a location within the park?
Don't know -- It could be due to going by where a given reference route extends, or where the road with a given name extends, the reference route's extent notwithstanding. And possibly the approach taken was not consistent. Also, maybe these routes were drafted before we had access to, or had found, the NYSDOT Traffic Data Reports or Traffic Data Viewer.
I don't know really; I didn't draft these routes, and am taking a shot in the dark here.
(So -- why am I replying, then? )Also, are there plans to add any of the other signed LI parkways, or will that depend on NY parkways being moved to their own system?
I wouldn't say it depends on parkways being moved to their own system. It could happen either way. I've thought about adding the odd one or two (say, Jackie Robinson Pkwy), but just haven't gotten down and done it.
I'm also not looking forward too much to opening the can of worms about adding whatever other parkways beyond that, or worse yet, making a proper full system out of them.
I've spread myself a bit thin, I think, and oversaturated myself with the project. I also have less time and attention for it than I used to. As a result, out of not wanting to add more to my plate, I've been neglecting NY a bit and not giving it the attention it perhaps deserves.
