TX: Couple DFW area notes
« on: June 08, 2017, 10:01:03 pm »
TX 180: HB has the eastern end at Loop 12. Signage for the route in the field exists as far east as I-35E. Signage from I-35E shows TX 180 going west but not east. Between I-35E and Loop 12, 180 shields appear pretty consistently on overhead street signs and there's this BGS at the Fort Worth Ave/Davis St split as well.

The route should be extended to I-35E

Spur 303: HB places the eastern end of the main segment at Belt Line Rd (FM 1382). Signage in the field shows the route continuing a bit further east.
This assembly is at the intersection with FM 1382.
This sign is at the intersection with SE 14th St.
Meanwhile this sign is at the intersection with SE 14th St pointing east, and the intersection with similar signage at the intersection with Mountain Creek Pkwy.

The main (western) segment should be extended to SE 14th St, with the Mountain Creek Lake Toll Bridge and its approaches (which are signed solely as such) representing the extent of the gap in the route.

SH 180 was removed from the state highway system from SH 12 eastward to I-35E, a distance of approximately 6 miles; control, jurisdiction and maintenance were transferred to the city of Dallas.
I don't want to extend it, only to wait around for signage to catch up, only to have to truncate it later.

The terminus of TXSpr303 is discussed here.

OK, so Texas is really not vigilant about removing signs when they decommission a route then. But, if it's decommissioned it's decommissioned, so I'd say leave it as is.

Spur 303 I'm fine with leaving as is as well given that the official map shows it ending at Belt Line Rd.

Got another one for your consideraton, though.

TX 121: signage has it following a surface alingnment through Lewisville, the grid map shows this as "121H". I'm not entirely sure what to make of that but it certainly appears 121 should be routed that way.

This would leave part of the Sam Rayburn Tollway with no number, but that could be put in usasf.

121H, eh? Sounds like a business route. :)

OK so the lesson I'm learning is I need to stop assuming that route signs around here mean anything. Yeesh.

I'll shut up and move this thread to resolved now.
