FL: US 17/92 realignment Sanford
« on: September 03, 2019, 04:27:13 pm »
The planned realignment of U.S. 17/92 in Sanford, Florida was finally posted. U.S. 17/92 no longer follows Seminole Boulevard along the south shore of Lake Monroe. U.S. 17/92 instead continue west along their overlap with SR 46 (West 1st Street) to County Road 15 at Monroe Road, where they turn north in place of CR 15 back to their original alignment at I-4. Brent drove the route yesterday and took some photos for the site. His post on the Florida Roads FB group shows CR 15 (Monroe Road) north where U.S. 17/92 makes the turn at SR 46:

He said it was posted overall, with the exception of confirming markers on Monroe Road south of I-4. The former alignment along Seminole Boulevard was closed to traffic so he could not check to see if the older shields were removed. I'll get the rest of his photos posted on AARoads soon.

Was this a change run by the AASHTO?  Don't recall it to be honest.

Also, was the entire Seminole Boulevard part closed?  Find that odd, as (per satellite imagery) there seems to be a housing development that only have access to that road, & the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Garden too.

EDIT: Found this about the 'reroute'.

But nothing from the AASHTO yet.

AASHTO approved this Aug. 2016.  See the Spring 2016 items here - https://route.transportation.org/committee-notices-actions-and-approvals/past-meetings/

Per GMSV the two assemblies that were just north of FL 46 are removed.  Didn't see any others on 2013 GMSV along the old route.  The shields at the north end of Monroe showing US 17/92 south to the right were also removed.

Ah, missed that.  Ty.

Will update both files locally (doing some other minor fixes to FL), and upload soon.

Updated the site with photos showing the US 17/92 realignment. Per GSV, looks like the sign changes were made sometime in 2018. However the shields on CR 15 north at US 17/92-SR 46 were date stamped August 2017.

Again, no confirming markers south of I-4, but the turn from Seminole Boulevard is well marked.

One assembly posted at SR 46:

Lazy removal of the reference for US 17/92 north at French Avenue:

SR 46 is still posted with TO banners along the overlap with US 17/92 on French Avenue.

Confirming markers are posted after French Avenue and the split with SR 46.
