ISL: TH430 + TH431
« on: May 16, 2023, 02:17:14 pm »
TH430 was signed in August 2013 but it is not indicated on https://vegasja.vegagerdin.is/eng/ Mapillary has no pics from there. OSM does also not indicate any road number. Should we remove TH430?

OTOH, I don't know if https://vegasja.vegagerdin.is/eng/ is a reliable source. It does not indicate TH431 up to TH1. However, TH431 was signed on TH1. Well, the most recent image I found is from 2018. Keep as-is or truncate?

The Vegagerðin map is, as best I can tell, a quite reliable source for what they maintain. This is not 1:1 with what is signed, since some routes are not signed (or only partially signed), and others are signed across locally maintained streets. And... yes, in some cases there are signed routes that are completely absent from the map (meaning the national government does not maintain any of it).

The general guiding principle is that signage is the final arbiter, though. Ergo, I would want to see confirmation that signs have changed before doing anything with either of these routes.

(FWIW Mapilarry does also have imagery from 2019 showing 431 still there)

431 was still signed today.
