Was driving through Central PA this weekend when I stumbled across an apparent mistake! The signage on PA829 just before it intersects with US22 has a sign for the junction ahead, but the 22 is encapsulated within the Pennsylvania keystone used for state highway routes instead of the standard US highway shield! I had to snag a picture... to the best of my knowledge, PA 22 hasn't been around since the 1920s, and it was certainly not in this part of the state.
Has anyone else come across similar mistakes in signage shape/numbering, old sign designs that have far outlived their mandate, or other anomalies? If so, I'd love to hear about it! Might be worth a trip someday...
Also of note: Many of the US 22 postings in this area use a different (and in my opinion, ugly) shield shape. Is this specific to certain parts of Pennsylvania?
