AR: AR980 Midway?
« on: September 08, 2022, 07:09:37 pm »
There is an AR980 state route just south of Midway (or just west of Mountain Home). There is no junction signage on AR126 for it, but there is one AR980 shield for this route.

Also, this is a nitpick, but does AR980Rec need the north-south piece? While GMSV hasn't gone here specifically, it has come close enough to show the white 'end state maintenance' sign at the end of the E-W stretch. Just a thought.

Bumping this up. Kinda forgot about this until my recent trip again as realized no action/discussion had been taken yet.

It did @ AR-126 at one point per StreetView.

Midway:
Both shapefiles & the county map show this as a paved local road. I'm going to treat it as a former route that has some remnant signage, and go no-build. That'd explain the signs being removed from AR126.

Rector:
*Squint* I'll take your word that that's an End Maint sign off in the distance. :D
Shapefiles & the county map agree that the N-S piece is out. Shapefiles show the route extending W to the county line, but looking at the E end, the cartography isn't the most precise here, so take it with a grain of salt. County map is low-res, but seems to indicate an end at the airport access road, which seems the safer place to put it until someone gets out there to look anyway.

Vespertine, do you remember if the End Maint sign is at the access road, or past it?

Treating the AR980Red endpoint as a non-newsworthy cosmetic change.
