WV: US52/King Coal Hwy
« on: January 29, 2016, 10:58:12 pm »
James, what's the plan for dealing with the King Coal Hwy segment of US52? I was down there today, and it's signed as US52. As is old US52. WVDOT maps show the old route as (252/57) but it is signed as 52 at the WV44 and WV65 intersections, at which signage directing drivers to the new route are conspicuously absent. Some early-stage work is happening on the new route east of WV44 but there's nothing going on at the WV65 end.

Mostly I had been waiting on solid proof of the routing change.  Especially if there was conflicting signage which you have confirmed with both routes being posted as US-52.....

Are there 'any' US-52 signs along WV-44 & WV-65 showing a multiplex?

Anyways, I'm half tempted to just say leave the route on the 'old' route till the signage is fixed, as unless people are intentionally seeking out the 'new' segment, they might not even know it's there.

Nope.

Makes sense, although WV44 needs extended to KCH now.

I could have sworn that I had done the WV-44 extension already.  I'll try to get to that tonight or tomorrow.

Just looked a little closer at my photos...at the time I was so focused on 52 that I completely missed the sign showing that WV44 extends south *past* the KCH. To what I do not know.

From what I understand, I think it just ends at the next intersection.  I know, kinda stupid, but that's WV for ya.

The extension of WV-44 has been submitted.  Also fixed the intersection for the King Coal Highway on WV-65 to it's proper location.
