TUR E90 spur at Ankara?
« on: August 19, 2023, 08:45:57 pm »
Even though E90 was moved to O21, O20 east of O21 is still signed as E90. This is the only piece of the O20 beltway we don't have an E route on.

Yep, the short segment between the two interchanges is perfectly signed as E90 where E88 begins and E90 (2022 GSV) is still being signed turning onto D750. I thought that we might extend E88 onto the segment but it is clearly not signed.

Why does Turkey still indicate E90 on D750? E routes are corridors not road numbers albeit they are signed like road numbers in the field. Just like Germany who indicates E54 on the old and the new alignment. I don't recall when the new road was opened. In 1980s or earlier?

I'd keep it as-is. @si404 and @panda80, what do you think?

The answer to E90 is NO. Turkish E road changes were on the agenda of a UNECE session last week. The report is not yet online but the Amendments to the Agreement has a map showing the SE segment of the belt way w/o any E road (bordered in green).

That means, we need to truncate E88 instead.

I won't change anything in regards to E road before the report will be online.

Reroute, absorbing E88Ank, surely?

Why does Turkey still indicate E90 on D750?
It costs money to make new signs.* Plus the UNECE think (despite the agreements demanding E roads take the highest quality route between cities) the E road takes the D750 as their logs are not great, even though the O20 parallels it for long enough that the change in description (from Aksaray to Nigde) discussed last week wouldn't have affected that heading immediately south from Ankara.

*It's not as bad as the D920 south from Toulouse - that road got renumbered after the bypassing Autoroute opened, and they kept the E9 cartouches anyway - it was literally remove as the cartouche above was replaced, rather than a whole big sign.

Truncating E88 and reextending by absorbing E88Ank.
