MN: MN 29/MN 55 near Glenwood
« on: August 24, 2022, 10:52:03 am »
Would like some input from the TM Hive Mind on how to handle this one.  Even though the project will not be completed until late autumn, I can technically make the changes now since the access and alignment changes have already been made "permanent" (albeit still under construction).

Previously, MN 29 and MN 55 met at a standard intersection on the north side of Glenwood.  As part of a project to grade separate MN 29 from the adjacent Canadian Pacific rail tracks, MN 29 and MN 55 will no longer have direct access as 29 will be bridged over 55 and the railroad.  Instead, access between the two will be made via an upgraded 160th St, a pre-existing city street located about 1/4mi south.

The most logical solution to me would be to create points at 160th St for both MN 29 and MN 55 and label them as either 160THST or as ToMN29/ToMN55.  The existing intersection points are in use by users, so my intention was to keep those but mark them with a star as "closed" points (and realign to match MN 55's new alignment closer to the railroad).

I'm open to other suggestions.  Here is the project website for more information.

That sounds good to me.  I would definitely use the 160thSt label for the new points.
