The weekend itself was mainly family time so the only new interesting item of the weekend roads-wise was seeing SR 636 and SR 655 shields at the new roundabout a few miles west of Chesterfield Court House by Pocahontas State Park (which has all of its roads as SR 780 for some reason instead of a VA primary route).

There are 43 state parks and only 9 of them have a primary route in them....

Finally got new brakes. Took a jaunt out to Yakima and Seattle, clinching an non-'route' part of ORH 100 just east of Hood River, picked up all of WA 142, US 97 from WA 14 out where it leaves I-90, a bit of WA 22, US 12, and I-82, as well as I-90 from I-82 to its terminus with WA 519. Managed to get the I-5 express lanes, then picked up WA 525S that I missed last time, and all of WA 529 in Everett before going back to Oregon.

I've traveled L780 and L781. I have all numbers from 0 to 999 now :) Still 10 numbers missing to 1323. https://travelmapping.net/user/routesbynumber.php?u=michih

I traveled two missing routes < 999. Only two remaining:

Code: [Select]
780 781
Due to adding numerous routes, the "end of game for Europe" changed from 1186 to 1323. Nonetheless, I reduced the number of missing routes from 19 (end of 2023) to 12 because of some clinchathons to Austria:
Code: [Select]
780 781 1194 1245 1264 1269 1275 1292 1304 1310 1317 1321
780+781 are in Germany (NW), 1310 only in North Macedonia, the rest in England.

I've now traveled all deub routes but five are not yet clinched. Thus, I'm at 99.90% of deub system now. The remaining segments are closed due to construction. The missing B1 bridge is announced to be reopened in Mid 2027. Until then, new deub segments will be opened I have to clinch too.

I have more than 50% of the mileage for every German region and at least 20% of all tier 5 deul routes now.

I just got back home from a three-week road trip, including two weeks in Canada (my first visit there since 2022). I crossed into Canada from Buffalo NY via the Peace Bridge, and back into the U.S. via BC 21/ID 1 north of Bonners Ferry ID. Both border crossings were quick and painless.

In-between, I traveled through Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan (spent less than a day there, only on Trans-Canada 16), Alberta, a side trip to the Northwest Territories, and southeastern British Columbia. I spent several days in the Winnipeg area, including for a road meet there.

I re-clinched TCH routes in Ontario (relocation of TCH/ON 11 in Geraldton) and British Columbia (short extension of TCH 1 Business in Chase). I'm still missing part of TCH (Main) in eastern Quebec, where the route is being relocated onto new Autoroute 85 segments I expect to cover later in 2025 or 2026.

The wildfire smoke was annoying, but only one road I had wanted to travel was fully closed while I was there, short Manitoba provincial road 312. It got more interesting in Alberta, north of Edmonton. Both highways between Edmonton and the Northwest Territories were subject to on-and-off wildfire closures. Alberta 35 between Manning and Paddle Prairie was just barely open when I drove it, with low-level flames visible within a few feet of the edge of pavement near Twin Lakes. On my way back from the Northwest Territories, I instead took Alberta 88 south toward Edmonton. That highway was passable, with heavy smoke in the Loon Lake area. But with evacuations of most of that area's residents, all but one of the local gas stations were closed. With no other gas stations in about 250 miles between Fort Vermilion and Slave Lake, I was getting nervous about my fuel supply, so I was lucky to find that station open.

Other highlights of my travels:

-- Traveling the two-hour Chi-Cheemaun auto ferry from Tobermory ON to Manitoulin Island, connecting the two segments of ON 6. I had hoped to clinch ON 6 as well, but a few km through Fergus were closed.

-- Finally clinching the new NT 9 between NT 3 and the Tlicho village of Whati, thereby re-clinching the cannt system. The highway was opened during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the Northwest Territories were essentially off-limits to non-residents, and it took me awhile to get back up there.

-- Re-visiting Vulcan AB ("Star Trek Capital of Canada") during the annual Spock Days festival.

-- On the way back home, diving down to southwestern Virginia to clinch the short (but extension in progress) US 121 near Grundy.

Also, my 2018 Subaru crossed the 300K miles threshold in Canada, and is now over 306K miles. I'm hoping I and my car can hang in there long enough to surpass the mileage I reached in my 2008 Prius (died at just under 320K miles, totaled in a parking accident, with the hybrid battery still going strong).

My route clinches from this trip (* indicates I'm the only TM user to clinch the route so far):
