ON: {407} extension & {418}
« on: January 04, 2018, 08:29:33 am »
Quote from: AsphaltPlanet
^ The exit numbers are as follows:
Endfield Road is signed as 132
The 418 interchange is unnumberd (traffic doesn't have a choice, but to navigate the 80km/h off-ramp)
Taunton Road is signed as 8

Although Hwy 418 is technically open between the 407 interchange and Taunton Road, there are no signs that correspond to Hwy 418.

Thinking of just 'temporarily' extending {407} down {418} till signage changes & {407} continues over to {35}/{115}.
Opinions?

I don't like the idea of tampering with the province's assigned route numbers, just to comply with our internal rules on unsigned routes. If ON 418 is unsigned, it almost certainly won't be for long.

I'd just create a short ON 418 route file including an ON407 label at its north end (to be renamed later), and label the new east end of ON 407 as ON418 until it gets an exit number.

That is true, and would prevent any future problems extending {407}.

And that's what I've done.  Since we do know that ON-418 will be posted, it's just better to have it added now instead of as part of ON-407.
