IN: US-31 exit number issues
« on: December 14, 2020, 10:12:27 am »
IN28 -> 148
191 -> US24 (Is there really a number posted?  StreetView from 2018 shows none)
212 -> IN25 (Is there really a number posted?  StreetView from late 2019 shows none)
234 -> 225 (August 2019 imagery shows 225, not 234, unless something has changed since then?)
VetPkwy -> 227 (September 2019)
*240 -> *OldUS31LaP? Doesn't seem to even have had a number on the old route per StreetView back in 2013 where the old freeway ended before the reroute.
225 -> 233 (September 2019)
231 -> 239 (September 2019)

As for the multiplex with US-20, there doesn't seem to be any numbers posted along it baring any mileage for either route.  So, they need to revert to named labels.

257 -> IN23 (StreetView)
259 -> MayRd (StreetView)
260 -> IN2 (StreetView)
262 -> US20_W (StreetView)
263A -> NimPkwy (StreetView)
263B -> I-80/90 (StreetView)
264 -> US31BusSou_N (StreetView)

I checked to see when and why I added those exit numbers, and it looks like these all go back to 2015, when Si changed all the labels. Some of them are legit (Carmel, Kokomo, basically any exit constructed within the past decade) but it doesn't seem that the South Bend bypass has ever had exit numbers.

 @si404, do you have any documentation on these, maybe something indicating when they were going to be posted?

I looked @ OSM, and some of those numbers that match it (along US-20) were added in ~2013.

I took them off OSM when we decided that not useing exit numbers for labels on US routes (unless from a different route) was silly.

OT, however, I recently saw exit numbers show up on the US 58 Danville Bypass west of US 29 in OSM. I tried to see if they actually existed in GSV and did not see anything.

I could not find anything on VDOT's website regarding it either.

Yeah, some users like to add 'fake' exit numbers.  Sometimes I want to challenge them on them, but can't since most of the time I've never been to that location, and my evidence is StreetView (which is fine for here, but not for contesting an edit on OSM).
