NY: NY 25 at I-295/NY 24

So I guess you do not make it to NY 25 on NY 24 WB...

Presuming this is correct, shouldn't there be another point on NY 25 at I-295 in the center of this junction with the graph connection between NY 25 and I-295 moved there?

(On NY 24, it looks like JamAve should be JamAve_W.)

Officially, NY 24 westbound uses 212 St, not Hollis Court Blvd. So it does feed directly into I-295 northbound.

That said, yes, this does mean the appropriate place for the NY 25/NY 24/I-295 point is halfway between Hollis Court and 212, not at Hollis Court.

This is my takeaway from the RIS Viewer too.
While routes are inventoried in just the primary direction and there's not much to click on to get info on the opposite direction, the basemap data may be informative. Uncheck "Federal Aid Eligible" and look at the darker brown used for state routes (easier to see at lower zoom levels). Compare WB NY27 @ Church.

The SimplifiedStreetSegmentQrt shapefiles also imply both directions, but they contain enough dubious data elsewhere that they can't be considered reliable IMO.

That said, fair point that other official sources disagree. And there are no signs to resolve this, so... I dunno, pick one. It being a one-way pair is more logical and tidier, I'd say, and current third-party mapmakers seem to agree.

Poking around a little more... a random sample of older third-party paper maps (drawn from my own collection) consistently show a one way pair on 212th St... and 212th Pl. One of the three maps I pulled pre-dates the Clearview Expressway's construction, but the other two I pulled post-date it, so there isn't an immediate change to align with the Expressway

I also peeked at Historic Aerials, and the permanent U-turn preventing northbound traffic on Hollis Court from accessing Hillside Ave was installed sometime between 1985 and 1994. Prior to that, it went through. This seems to roughly align with when third party maps start showing Hollis Court Blvd instead of 212th Pl as the eastbound routing, though that may be coincidental.


The question I don't have the answer to is... what was signed before signs were removed. Though for what it's worth, this assembly of old, decaying signs that looks like the sort you'd expect to see on official route and not some random side street survives at the north end of 212th St. So that may be a hint.
