ON: Gardiner Expressway officially shortened
« on: April 11, 2022, 01:10:58 am »
Just recently discovered that they started working on the new alignment for the Gardiner Expressway to connect to the DVP.

They started this work by permanently closing off 'exit 157', which was the stub end of the Gardiner Expressway beyond the DVP and demolishing it back in September '21.

Thus, I've now shortened it back to the 'gore' point where the DVP starts.  Left that label as '157' for now, as no idea how (or if) they changed the signage there.  Thus, the 'LakeShoBlvdE' point is now hidden under '157', so, nobody who had that in their list file will lose any possible clinch.

But with the plan they're going with, they are going to add in a new exit for Lake Shore Blvd a little bit to the west of the old gore point (guessing that might get the number 157 in the future, or maybe 156), and also realign the current alignment of the Gardiner to the north between Cherry St & the DVP.  Supposedly this will all be done by 2024, but we'll cross that bridge once they officially realign it, as that will shorten the DVP too at that point.
