GA: GA 380 extension
« on: February 19, 2024, 10:33:08 am »
I was planning a drive through central Georgia and noticed Open Maps shows an extension to GA 380 from GA 16 north to GA 83.  While Google Street Maps just shows construction on the new route vs. an open road, the GDOT project page shows this segment opening on 9/5/23.  Should we go ahead and add it?

Yeah, I honestly doubt that it was fully opened on 9/5.  When looking @ GSV, Aug '23 @ GA-16, it looks like there's no way possible it could have been finished that fast.

I would say that confirmation that it's open via a field check would be recommended here first.

Especially since the link you provided above says the following:
Quote
Construction Percent Complete:    90.29%

GA: GA 380 extension back to GA 83 near Monticello
« Reply #2 on: March 14, 2024, 07:31:18 pm »
Drove by this one this evening.  OSM is already showing it completed though it is not.  GA 380 is in the process of being extended north of GA 16 to GA 83 northeast of Monticello.

GA 83 is now using the roundabout where GA 380 will meet it, though construction continues at the roundabout as well as on the extension.  At least some layers of pavement were laid from what I could see from GA 83, though no striping has been done.  I'd guess at least a couple months before it's opened.
