I'm currently starting to map this system, and right away I see an interesting issue: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Canadian#Toronto_Terminal
There are two wildly different Toronto-area routes, one of which overlaps ON RH all the way, and the other of which overlaps ON BT to Vaughan, turning east along an otherwise freight-only line just south of the 401 to meet the direct route in Thornhill.

Sounds like there are two distinct routings to separately map as separate services.

Though yes it is interesting that it may be a coin toss which one your train actually takes and you have to pay attention when you're on it to know.

I assume I only need to map the longer variant until the first station?

On second look, I don't know if this still happens. See Google results including people excited to ride the York Sub due to a construction detour.
