PA: PA760 truncation?
« on: June 27, 2024, 12:29:47 pm »
When I traveled along PA 760 last week, I didn't see any PA 760 signs north of PA 418 / 718 along Broadway Avenue / MLK St. / Dock Street. I did see PA 718 signs on this part and noticed signage specifically for PA 760 only south of the point where the concurrency ended. Checking GSV, the only recent imagery from 2023 is at said southerly 418 / 718 intersection. However, signage explicitly for 760 north of there definitely existed per the 2019 imagery. There are no "end PA 760" signs that exist along the current 760. If it was truncated, nothing is removed from the map since it was all 718 anyway.

Signage in Sharon may be the biggest mess in Travel Mapping outside of Holyoke, MA.  (https://forum.travelmapping.net/index.php?topic=4357.0) (https://forum.travelmapping.net/index.php?topic=3020.0)   :pan:

So I am thinking that PA 760 is still signed from US 62 BUS WB though I cannot 100% prove it due to limitations of the PennDOT Video Log not allowing me to view the WB Direction.

Maybe I consider staying a night in or around Sharon to finish things off here when going to Michigan City.

Sorry, had meant to include some GSV links: this spot is at the 718 / 760 / 418 intersection, 2019 imagery linked but slide to the 2023 imagery and the 760 signs are removed from the directional assembly in the foreground and the reassurance assembly in the background. Note I can't vouch for the quality of the signage in the City of Hermitage which absorbed the borough of Wheatland as of the beginning of this year. (TIL)

ETA: Processing my photos through this point of my trip, here's a photo I took in Sharon south of the roundabout with no PA 760 shield but one that definitely was there in the past:

Another note, the Type 10 Map for Mercer County still shows a PA 760 shield along PA 718 while the Traffic Volume Map does not.

So I am thinking that PA 760 is still signed from US 62 BUS WB though I cannot 100% prove it due to limitations of the PennDOT Video Log not allowing me to view the WB Direction.

I am pretty sure that my decision here is dependent on whether PA 760 SB is still signed from US 62 BUS SB.

So as of last night, PA 760 SB is still signed from here so this is a no-build for now.  Why this one shield would stay with the rest removed is beyond my brain to figure out.
