Barbados Highways (brbh)
« on: March 28, 2016, 03:06:57 am »
There are currently two systems online:
  • brbabc Barbados ABC Highway
  • brbh Barbados Highways

Both have tier 4 category and both are in devel status.

I think brbabc should be merged to brbh, shouldn't it?

I know that wikipedia is often a bad source but what's about Ermie Bourne Highway and Spring Garden Highway?

Why?

One is a string of unnumbered major highways commonly called the ABC Highway - that is the main road on the island (but still of tier-4 quality), and the other is a system of highways all called Hx where x is a number, or a number-letter pair.

^^ I thought each region should only have one system per tier. I think it makes no sense to have different systems with the same tier and color on the map. Am I wrong? Are there more "exceptions"?

Is there a document describing the tier category requirements?

Where did you get that idea?

I think it makes no sense to put roads that aren't in an obvious system in that system just because they would be at the same tier and color. The ABC Highway isn't part of the numbered highways network, but it's not a higher tier.

gbnm and gbnam for instance.

See also the usaif / usasf / usansf / usakyp / usanyp set of tier 2 USA systems.

auta+auts, pola+pols, svkd+svkr, svna+svnh. All have the same road standard but the first is always tier 1 while the second one is always tier 2.
czed+czer were two systems. czed was tier 1, czer was tier 2. The R roads were dedicated to D roads on 1st January 2016 and the former R roads are tier 1 now.
Why are auts, pols, svkr and svh systems not tier 1?

No critismn, I just want to understand! :)

They don't - the former are all signed with chopsticks, and the latter with happy car signs, IIRC. There's also, typically higher geometric standards.

However, I've changed my mind and subsumed the ABC Highway into the main system.

H1:
H2/3 wp should be renamed to H2/H3
ChaDunONeHwy should be renamed and moved to H2 wp (NMP), however, I think H1 already ends at H2A

H2:
As mentioned before, H1 wp should be concurrent with ChaDunONeHwy wp of H1 but I think the name should be H2A
Should be routed via "H2" wp of H1
H2B should be renamed to HwyB
HwyC http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=13.219950&lon=-59.567319
H1/3 should be renamed to H1/H3

H2A:
H2 wp should be moved, see H1 and H2
HwyC http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=13.200716&lon=-59.616022

H3:
H1/2 should be renamed to H1/H2
AppRd http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=13.159286&lon=-59.559047
GagsHill should be renamed to ErmBouHwy

H3B:
H3E http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=13.183235&lon=-59.501170
H4A should be renamed to CoaHill

H3C:
Should be extended to H3E http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=13.188933&lon=-59.505692

H3E:
Should be extended to H3B http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=13.183235&lon=-59.501170

H4:
HwyH http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=13.162305&lon=-59.483285

H4A:
Ends @ HwyH instead of H3B according to OSM

H4B:
Odd, OSM has a branch to H5 too (Ebe to Ebe)

H6:
H1/2 should be renamed to H1/H2

H6B:
H5/H6B should be renamed to H5/H6

H7:
OisHill should be renamed to HwyT

Generally, GSV is not available and I've never been there though.
Maybe highways with "character suffix" like "Highway B" et cetera should be added... Tier5 system "Barbados Secondary Highways"?
