DE: Extend DE 16 east to Broadkill Beach

While driving around Delaware during the holiday weekend, I saw signage on DE 1 northbound indicating that DE 16 continued east on Broadkill from DE 1, rather than ending at DE 1 as the HB has it. There is also a DE 16 reassurance marker on Broadkill Rd. eastbound just east of the DE 1 intersection. There's no other route signage on the ~3.7 miles of Broadkill Rd. between DE 1 and its end in Broadkill Beach. Nor is there any signage on DE 1 southbound, or DE 16 west of DE 1, confirming that DE 16 extends east of DE 1.

The online mapping is inconsistent on how far east DE 16 goes. The state highway map I picked up at a visitor center isn't clear either, other than to change the line on the map for Broadkill Rd. from red west of DE 1 to black east of DE 1.

I'm comfortable extending DE 16 east to Broadkill Beach. I can make the change myself (would only need to add one point to the DE 16 route file), unless someone disagrees.

It doesn't appear to me that the situation has changed since then, enough to justify an extension.

One thing that has changed, is that OSM now shows DE 16 ending at Broadkill Beach. Google Maps also shows DE 16 east of DE 1.

The last DE 16 signage is just east of DE 1. The lack of signage on the remaining ~3.7 miles to Broadkill Beach doesn't say much, given the short distance. True, there's no END sign, but then the road turns to sand in Broadkill Beach. The only unclarity is whether it ends at Bay Shore Drive (where OSM puts the route end), at Bay Front Road a short block to the east, or at pavement's end an even shorter distance farther east.

FWIW, Wikipedia has DE 16 ending in Broadkill Beach, though is imprecise about where in Broadkill Beach.

Are there more current shapefiles than those cited in the earlier threads on the CHM forum?

I looked at CENTER_LINE.shp, dated 2014-06-03, and ROUTES.shp dated 2014-06-13.
More current than the cmap threads, yes. Ain't exactly 2018, though.

I looked up the latest traffic count report, an earlier version of which Duke87 mentioned in one of the CHM forum threads. The 2016 report still includes a count for DE 16 in Broadkill Beach (separate from the count taken at DE 1), though the count in Broadkill Beach was last taken in 2010 rather than the more recent counts at DE 1 and points west.

I think enough has changed since this last came up in the CHM forum (mainly OSM/Mapnik's extending DE 16 to Broadkill Beach), that we should go ahead and extend DE 16 to Broadkill Beach. Unless there are still objections, I'll put in the pull request for that over the weekend.

I was about to weigh in and say everything was the same as the time of the CHM discussion, and OSM IMO is like Google or Wikipedia, not carrying the same weight as official sources.
But OTOH, rereading your post -- "The 2016 report still includes a count for DE 16 in Broadkill Beach" -- hm. That does tip the scales a little bit.
I don't object very strongly.
