NH: NH 129 in Loudon
« on: March 31, 2018, 10:52:19 pm »
Eric:

Noticed this evening that NH 129 is signed to the west of NH 106 in addition to the normal segment to the east.  I did not have time to investigate this in the field, but the signs I saw are similar to what appears in 2013 GMSV.  OSM seems to think that it extends all the way west to I-93/Exit 17, though I doubt that's the case.  2013 GMSV shows signage beginning on the south wye of the Village Rd junction in the middle of Loudon, so not far west of NH 106.

Shapefiles dated 2018-01-09 (and also the 2016 & 2012 revisions) have NH129 beginning, MP_START 0, at NH106. The road west of there is LEGIS_CLASS 5 (Local Roads), with STREET = "Old NH 129" thru the north leg of the wye (the E & SW legs are both "S Village Rd").
Thus I'm inclined to give more weight to the "TO 129/106" sign at the wye. There's one of those facing the northern junction too.

Sloppy signage? Possibly a local job? A case of the New England tendency to refer to places by what was there 30 years ago?
