PA: I-80 Notes Around Stroudsburg
« on: October 03, 2018, 05:47:07 pm »
1.  In my update for PA 611 today (see https://github.com/TravelMapping/HighwayData/pull/2267), I changed GapRd (in-use) on PA 611 to I-80(310).

2. Back to the lining up fun, I saw that the 307 label on I-80 does not line up  with PA 611 or PA 191.  This is presumably because this was treated as one interchange when drafted; however, based on the manual, I believe that both should have points based on the double half interchanges rule.  I was tentatively thinking 307 for PA 611 and 307A for PA 191, but I have not done this as of yet.

Quote
Double half interchanges: Usually use one central point and treat both halves as a single, full interchange. Exceptions: a clear gap of at least 0.5 mi/0.8 km separates the two halves, or each half connects to a different highway that we are also mapping.

3.  I believe that the 311 label on I-80 should be removed because GSV shows it being for emergency and authorized vehicles only.

Was it always that way? It appears to have been open to the public in 1988.

1. Shapefiles & GMSV agree on Foxtown Hill Rd.

2. Sounds good.

3. Eh, there was that one time I rode in an ambulance!  ;D
The ME I-95 Saco Hotel & Conf. Ctr. "exit" was Exit 5 proper until the early 1980s. I could have a cab driver drop me off there & re-enter the highway, while I become a pedestrian. ;)

My own memory is of the exit that got renumbered as exit 311 having been open to all traffic in the 1980s. If that's no longer the case, mark it closed.

I already decided on that.  Personally I think we should eventually start removing closed points that are not in-use, but that is another low-priority discussion for years down the road.

I-80(310) will be FoxHillRd_E.

One final note is that I also went ahead and lined up US 209 BUS with PA 191.

Naah. A new user could always come along, who needs to map some old travels.

^ Indeed.  I also have at least a couple examples in my states where they function well as shaping points.
