E Roads in Albania
« on: February 10, 2019, 03:05:26 pm »
this photo I saw on SSC shows that Albania has started signing E roads.

Albania relatively recently signed up to the AGR (2006 - only Montenegro more recently, though that's as they became independent that year and it was signing up to something they were signed up to as part of Yugoslavia, and later Serbia & Montenegro), but no routes have been officially defined.

Here's another sign with E numbers on it.

You've added E762, E851 and E852. Shouldn't E762 be extended to Tirana? And why don't you add E853 too?

No - it's not signed to Tirana, and defined to end at the border. There's a sign at the junction with the E851.

Again, neither signed or defined in Albania.

You also forgot to ask where the E86 is, but Albania seem to have forgotten too, hence the E852 to Tirana  :P

Think of these routes as being like the E401 on the A16 in France, or the E7 north of Pau/south of Zaragoza, etc - off-piste routes that are signed on the ground.

E762 should end at border? What’s your source? And Which border, no E762 in Albania at all? I‘m a little bit confused now.

1) Officially it does. And, until yesterday, it did on TM/CHM as it had for over a decade!

2) the AGR itself:
E 762 Sarajevo - Podgorica - Border of Albania
E 851 Petrovac - (Albania) - Prizren - Priština
E 852 Ohrid - Albanian Border
E 853 Ioannina - Albanian Border

(for reference, the E86 is defined as ending at the Greek village near the Greco-Albanian border, rather than the border itself).

There are zero formally defined E Roads in Albania, and Wikipedia is wrong whenever it says there are.

3) the northern border, so no E762 in Albania....

However, on finding a picture of a signed E road in the country, I've investigated signed routes of E Roads in Albania to include them like we include signed extension/branches/duplicates of E Roads that aren't in the International Agreement (AGR) that defines the routes - eg the E7 on the A65 in Gascogne, or the E401 on the A16 in Picardy.

They aren't signed that well, but the E762 is signed in places along SH1 north of SH41, the E851 is signed in places along it's obvious route, the E852 is signed in places from Pristina south (and maybe a bit further north, but I wasn't fully convinced it goes and meets the E851 north of Tirana) and the E853 and E86 not at all along their supposed routes.

No, because I've gone and done the work getting the info, and then uploaded the resulting fixes. The issue is closed, at least for now.
