MO72 in Rolla
« on: March 10, 2019, 07:31:45 pm »
I was in Rolla over the weekend and noticed that MO72 was extended west of US63 along a new stretch of road from US63 to I-44 Exit 184. It looks like OSM has the correct routing.  Currently the Highway browser shows it following US63 all the way to  I-44 Exit 186. I couldn't stop to take any pictures.

Edit: Looking through GMSV, it looks like MO72 used to be concurrent with US63 all the way til I-44 Exit 186, but now it is just extended west along Ridgeview Road to I-44 Exit 184.

Matches the official route map: http://traveler.modot.mo.gov/hpmaps/

Did it go all the way to I-44 or did it just end at the BL?

It went to I-44. It was also signed from the interstate for Exit 184.

MO 72 has been rerouted west of US 63 to I-44.

Should the waypoint at the interchange with I-44 just be named "I-44" instead of "I-44_W"?

yes, it should. And "I-44BL_E" wp is off.

Marking "topic not solved".

1. I left the endpoint I-44_W name copied over from BL I-44 so anyone with the old point would have a broken file. Now that I see "I-44" is not in use, I'll make I-44_W the hidden name.

2. The I-44BL_E point is "off" because I was not sure how the current intersection is set up. Right now it's in the middle of what looks like a triangle on Google Maps. On Mapnik, however, this point is now to the north of the intersection, because MO 72 was made the thru route coming from the interstate and BL I-44 has to turn. Since there are no recent-enough satellite views, I'll move the point southward to the intersection as seen on Mapnik.

We only need hidden names if a wp IS in use by any traveler to make sure that files are not broken. We can always rename points when they are not in use by anyone.

I had the I-44_W but I was just waiting for the waypoint name to be updated. I submitted a pull request to update mine. Not sure how many others have that point in their files.

Correct what needs to be corrected. I don't mind if it causes an error on my log. When that happens, I just fix it on my next update. Don't leave something that should be fixed because of me.  ;D
