ENG: M4 Slough spur at J7?

I just got back from a week driving around England and Scotland and I noticed that most short motorway-grade spurs from mainline motorways are included in the system, but not the M4 spur at J7 to Slough. Highways England GIS classifies this similarly to the Heathrow Terminal 5 spur and J4 Orpington spur from the M25, which are in TM, while surface signs show the 2/3-mile trumpet stem as part of the M4.

Since there is precedent for including short motorway spurs like this in the UK in at least two places, I propose we add a new M4SprSlo from M4 J7 to the A4 roundabout.

Actually most aren't. You've not been looking hard enough to see that there's actually a good couple dozen short motorway spurs, but we only have four in the gbnm system (though quite a few in the gbna system).

There's potential yes for the Huntercombe Spur here, but I need to wait for the roadworks to finish and put in driver location signs (which is what gets the four in gbnm included - on the ground signage showing its spur status) - there's this conversation a few months ago:

Depends on what the Driver Location Signs going in will be - this is promising as it separates the slip roads from the spur road, rather than treats the spur as slip roads. Ditto this from last month. If it calls the road "M4 Spur" then it will go in like the M25 Spur or M56 Spur. Or if it is M4 A/B (and thus mainline) with HSx as numbers (cf the M4 Airport spur). But if not, then we open a big can of worms. There's other ~1km long things that don't have a visible name that might be added.

So maybe, in the future, it might be.

I was wondering what the criterion was. That makes sense. The ones included are all explicitly marked as "SPUR". Because yes, with the way the UK signs things, we could be opening a can of worms if it's not clear.

As of Saturday, the area was still torn up with the road works. I'm curious myself what it will look like once it's all done. It's certainly a bit painful with the 50 MPH limit and the average speed cameras right now...

Tell me about it - did 8/9 to 11 and back at the weekend, and those few miles felt long enough without travelling further.
