WI-WI241
« on: December 22, 2020, 07:37:03 pm »
After the rebuild of I-94, WI-241's south end is, well, shall I say "ambiguous".

Google Maps shows it following the west frontage road from 7-mile road to where it got cut off by the rebuild (the architecture of the road switches from 4-lane to 2 lane rather quick at the bridge crossing the Roof River.

Drove it today in both directions and checked out Elm Road and 7-mile Road's interchanges

BGSs for both interchanges say "TO WI-241"  Trailblazers on 7-mile WB and the ramps have "TO 241" lining them.  There is a reassurance at the south end of the frontage road without a TO banner.  That is the ONLY sign in Racine County.  The next NB sign is on the original alignment and in Milwaukee County.  There are no reassurance markers south of that point going southbound - not even one indicating an end.

My suggestion is to truncate the route in TM to the 7-Mile/Frontage Road intersection (Not extending it to the I-94 Interchange) based on the fact that the first marker without a TO banner is here (NB).

If it's ambiguous, why not give it the benefit of the doubt of connecting to the interstate? It's probably going to be awkward either way. I can kill the 7-Mile part if you really want me to, though.

FWIW, the WisDOT Racine County map doesn't show 241 at all.

I'm ok with cutting at 7-mile or leaving Racine county out - the latter makes more sense based on the map too.  Map vs Signed - your call.

Nearby, it looks like the I-41/I-94 interchange at Elm St has opened by now.  It seems better to cover this here than make a new topic.

Also a point is needed for the Drexel Ave interchange farther north as well.  (It is Exit 321.)

Did you have any further comments on the southern terminus of WI 241 or are you fine with how it is in the HB (ending at I-41/94)?

I was asking you.  It seemed to me that you wanted WI 241 truncated to the Recine County Line.

I'm of the preference that it should end at the Racine County line.  South of that signage is ambiguous - with TO banners on everything.

You know what? You were right, and I was stubborn. I will truncate the route and 7MileRd will be the south endpoint.
