Every muscle is vibrating. Sleep is irresistible. There needs to be a name for it.

It wasn't quite 20 hours of driving, but when I drove from LA to Salt Lake City on my trip this past October, I was on the road from approximately 9 am to 2 am that next morning, pretty much only stopping for lunch, dinner, and gas. Playing classic rock music kept me awake on I-15 thru Utah.

It probably wouldn't have taken so long had I not spent that entire morning driving around on LA's freeways, and then going down the Grapevine and then over Tehachapi Pass that afternoon, but hey, I wanted to do those things, especially because it was a Saturday morning so there was practically no traffic in LA.

But I don't think I'm going to be spending that much time on the road and staying up so late driving in the future.

My longest driving was also just 17 hours. From 3AM to 8PM. The normal travel time had been less than 15 hours but I needed some detours to get more CHM mileage in NE Hungary and around Vienna back then :D
I only slept one or two hours the last nights before the trip. Thus I was quite tired and almost felt asleep after six hours of driving. A 10 minute power nap saved me and the rest of the day went well.
I would never do such a trip again! A relaxed elven-hours-trip like last Saturday is enough :D

Longest continuous road trip for me with no meal breaks was 20 hours but I only drove half of that. Eastern DC suburbs to Minneapolis. Left at 11 PM Eastern, arrived 6 PM Central (thus 7 PM Eastern) the next day. We would drive for 2 hours, take a short break, drive 2 hours more, take a slightly longer pit stop and switch drivers. Lather, rinse, repeat. We got caught in traffic because we went too close to Chicago. Oops.

Longest single-stretch solo drive was Fargo, ND, to eastern DC suburbs, which was a longer trip but involved meal breaks of over an hour, whereas the above drive had no break longer than 15 minutes.
