NC: US 74 Corridor (TN Line to I-40)
« on: April 07, 2021, 10:05:20 pm »
US 74:
1.  I would add points at Wolfcreek Rd (WolRd) and Simonds Chapel Rd (SimChaRd) for shaping purposes. (also affects US 64)
2.  The first shaping point should be replaced with a visible point at Johnsonville Rd (JohRd).
3.  I also recommend adding Bell Hill Rd and maybe Ranger Rd for shaping purposes.  (also affects US 64)
4.  (For US 19 and US 129) US64/74_W should just be US64/74.
5.  I recommend adding Maltby Rd (MalRd) as the route all but goes out of tolerance here.  (also affects US 19 and US 129)
6.  US129_N needs to be recentered. (also affects US 19 and US 129, for the latter US19/74_N should be changed to US19/74)
7.  It looks like SilMineRd should be just SilRd. (also affects US 19)
8.  I think that ToryLn should be made hidden.  (also affects US 19)
9.  The NC 28 points should be N and S instead of W and E.  (also affects US 19)
10.  US19_N should be 64.
11.  (Specifically for US 19)  It looks like the shaping point northeast of US74_E should be replaced with a visible point at Old US 19.
12.  US19Con should be 67.
13.  HyaCrkRd_W should be 69
14.  A shaping point is needed east of 69 as the route goes out of lateral.
15.  StaRd should be 72.
16.  US441 should be 74.
17.  I think that a point should be added at Piney Mountain Rd.  (also affects US 441, the below would affect US 19 TRUCK (Waynesville) if it should be in the HB...)
18.  I think that RedRidRd should be made hidden.  (also affects US 441)
19.  The shaping point west of US23/441 should be replaced with a visible point at Dicks Creek Rd (DicCreRd).
20.  US23/441 should be 81.  (Note that the route almost goes out of lateral east of here.  That also affects US 23 and US 64 TRUCK (Henderson) plus that US 19 TRUCK mentioned earlier.)
21.  US23Conn should be 83.  (also affects the three routes mentioned in 20)
22.  US23BusSyl_N should be 85.  (also affects the three routes mentioned in 20)
23.  HyaCkRd should be marked as closed (if this is a true closure).  Adding OldBalRd (Old Balsam Rd) to the west may be useful as well.  (also affects the three routes mentioned in 20)
24.  US23BusWay should be 98.  (also affects the three routes mentioned in 20)
25.  HazRd should be 100.  (also affects the three routes mentioned in 20)
26.  US276 should be 102.  (also affects the three routes mentioned in 20)
27.  US19_W should be 103.  (also affects US 19, US 23, and US 64 TRUCK (Henderson)) (of course US 19 TRUCK is posted here...)
28.  US23BusWay_N should be 104.  (also affects US 19, US 23, and US 64 TRUCK (Henderson))
29.  JonCoveRd should be 105.  (also affects US 19, US 23, and US 64 TRUCK (Henderson))
30. US19/23_E should be 106.   (also affects US 19, US 23, and US 64 TRUCK (Henderson))

US 23 BUS (Sylva):
1.  US23_S should be recentered.  (also affects US 23 and US 441)
2.  US23Conn should Grindstaff Cove Rd (GriCoveRd).

NC 107:
1.  The first shaping point north of NC/SC should be replaced with a visible point at Silver Run Rd (SilRunRd).
2.  The first shaping point north of US 64 should be replaced with a visible point at Laurel Knob Rd (LauKnobRd).
3.  I think that DomRd should be made hidden.
4.  The shaping point south of NC 281 should be replaced with a visible point at GraCreRd (Grassy Creek Rd).
5.  North of NC 281, I would add shaping points and a visible point at CanForkRd (Caney Fork Rd).
6.  The shaping point south of CulDrv should be replaced with a visible point at Cullowhee Mountain Rd (CulMouRd).
7.  CulDrv should be BlackHawkRd.
8.  A point should be added for the interchange at Evans Rd (EvaRd).
9.  The shaping point south of US23Bus could probably be replaced with a visible point at Cope Creek Rd (CopeCreRd).

I think I got all the changes and concurrencies that go with them.

US 19 Truck Cherokee will be added.  It is posted on both ends.

I don't know if this belongs here rather than in some other NC thread.

The 5/2/21 Updates table entry for NC US 19 Truck (Waynesville) confuses me. It gives me no clue where exactly the updated route peels away from and/or rejoins the old route, so I can adjust my list file accordingly. It doesn't help that it's been so long since I last traveled the route, so I can't easily reconstruct my travels, and so I depend on clear Updates entries.

It was in the HB to leave US 74 west and head to Cherokee with US 441 to meet US 19 (incorrect south terminus of US 19 Trk).  It is now routed to continue with US 74 west to where US 19/74 splits west of Bryson City

Why was the (in use) US19_N label not preserved as an alt label on US 19 Truck Waynesboro?

Technically, the label should have remained US19_N to begin with.  (https://travelmapping.net/devel/manual/wayptlabels.php#auxroutes)

Second, two duplicate label errors have shown up for US64TrkHen:

Quote
nc.us064trkhen   +x30   DUPLICATE_LABEL
nc.us064trkhen   +x40   DUPLICATE_LABEL

I will look at the rest later.  I actually have things to do in life today for once.

4.  (For US 19 and US 129) US64/74_W should just be US64/74.

Done on US 129, but still needs to be done on US 19.  (However, I did see that LowMillCrkDr on US 129 needs to be shortened.)

10.  US19_N should be 64.

I am at an either/or position on changing US74_E on US 19 to US74(64) even though I believe the latter is more correct now.
