Hmmm?  :P  https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=10692.msg2621692#msg2621692

I noticed in the news article that they specifically mentioned WV-869.  Does this mean that it will finally be signed?  Only time will tell.

Yeah, I am trying not to post links to threads moving forward that you and yakra (amongst other maintainers) have posted in.  I would rather it be posted here than not if possible.

Nice.  Hopefully somebody can check it out and see if WV-869 gets signed on the old road to the bridge that isn't already part of WV-817.

I’ll be passing through that area Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend, so I can at least see if 869 is signed from 35; however, I’ll have the wife and dogs with me, so I doubt I’ll see if it’s signed on the road itself.

As long as you get pictures showing it signed @ US-35, I'll take a leap of faith that it's signed on the bridge too so I can add a file for that route. ;)

So, an update about what happens to the 'current' US-35 segment between the new interchange & the Lower Buffalo Bridge/WV-817.
https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=10692.msg2679937#msg2679937

To answer the signage question, northbound the exit is signed "WV 817 - WV 62 -Buffalo - Eleanor"  southbound is simply WV 62 - Buffalo - Eleanor"  No use of the word "TO" and no mention of the bridge's route number.  Also no signage for the Toyota plant, which you can get a view of southbound about a mile north of the exit.  If you take exit signage points you to "WV 62".   There is some reworking of the interchange between the old US 35 (now WV 817), the access road to the ramps, and the bridge, but that will probably be done next spring.

So, no WV-869 extension (or if there is, it remains hidden) to the new US-35 routing.

So, I'll work on the changes in the next ~24h.

However, since we don't know yet the name (if there is one) for the 'now' northern connector (the former US-35 alignment to WV-817), I've given it the 'temporary' label of 'ToWV817_Bee' (the _Bee is due to the other connector near Henderson that only has 'TO WV-817' signage and no name posted) till pictures arise.  If somebody finds out and provides pictures, I can then at that time revisit the label name for it and adjust accordingly.

I'm thinking of heading down to "reclinch" US 35 in WVa next week. I'll let you know what I see, if someone doesn't get there before me.

Should LowBufBrg instead be LowBufBri or is this like Cre and Crk for Creek?  I would have used LowBufBri if this was in the Pittsburgh area.

As far as I've seen, when WV does abbreviations, they stick with the USPS ones, which Brg for Bridge is one.

Finally(!) made to the *new* US 35 in West Virginia today. The "northern connector" to WV 817 is still not open to drivers.  >:( They are still working on the guardrail, and for an 1/8, or 1/4 mile on both side of the intersection, US 35 is down to one lane.
From WV 817, the signs say to US 35, from US 35, the signs are covered up.
As for the south end, the signage along US 35 say WV 62. No 'To WV 62,' nothing about 817, no signs for WV 869. (one will see 'To WV 62' signs at the intersection with WV 817, at the west approach to the bridge.
