NIR: Craigavon Bridge Lower Deck
« on: July 06, 2022, 07:25:09 am »
I know this is a minor issue, but the lower deck of the Craigavon Bridge in (London)Derry does not appear to be numbered A5. Nearly every sign I could find on GSV show the number on both decks of the bridge to be A2. In addition to this, the short section of Foyle Road connecting the lower deck to the Foyleside Roundabout appears to be numbered both A2 and A40.

(yes, I only noticed this because it affects my clinch of the A5)

This is a historic fudge - in part because the signage is a bit inconsistent, in part because what I have done is the sort of thing that wouldn't have been allowed in the CHM days.

I've made the lower deck a loop of the A2, linking to the A2 at both ends. The A5 will be truncated to the upper deck junction, the A40 will continue to reach the main A2 at Foyleside Roundabout.

I think that i also mentioned something about it when reviewing nirb in 2019: https://forum.travelmapping.net/index.php?topic=3107.msg14573#msg14573

@computerfan0: Do you agree with it? Can we keep the routes as-is and mark the topic solved?

I changed the routes as documented above.
