IL: Chicago Area Point Concerns (minus I-57)
« on: July 08, 2022, 07:27:49 pm »
No I-57 because I sent those to Highway63 via PM.

I-90:
1.   78 should be 79C.
2.   85 should be 43B(94).

I-94:  59B should be moved to Marquette Rd. (I think keeping it at the current location is a bit confusing.)

US 12/US 20/US 41:  EwiAve should be EwiAve_S.

US 41:
1.   It looks like MacAve_N should just be MacAve.
2.   57thSt should be 57thDr.

IL 50:
1.   A point should be added at Stuenkel Rd (direct connection to I-57).
2.   SaukTra should be SaukTrl.

IL 394:  SaukTr should be SaukTrl.

The Trl labels should at least be consistent though when I did the "Tr to Trl" conversion in PA I believe it was under the assumption that not one version for "Tr" was being specifically chosen.

US 41:
2.   57thSt should be 57thDr.

I'm going to guess this one used to be at 57th St (before construction and moving the access to LSD).

I-90:
1.   78 should be 79C.
It appears the Illinois Tollway reconfigured the area around the I-190 and Cumberland Avenue exits. I-190 was marked as Exit 78 as recently as 2019, and was west of Cumberland. But now the WB I-90 to WB I-190 exit is all the way back at Canfield Avenue. The exits to Cumberland retain I-90’s number but I-190, if it can be called that at that point, is acting like a C/D road.

An “End 190” sign is still where I have the end of the I-190 file, west of East River Road. River Road is still Exit 1 on 190, so what does that make Cumberland? Exit -1? I believe the best solution is to change 78 to 79C but leave the locations unchanged. Yes, this puts 79C “west” of 79[A/B], but east of my current I-190 endpoint the roads are paralleling each other.

(Related, and connected to the ongoing AARoads “Google Maps sucks now” thread: Why does it take a zillion clicks to advance a minimal distance on the newest Street View, why does it sometime go backwards, and why does it insist on dropping me down to a lower-level road when I cross a bridge?)

2.   85 should be 43B(94).
IMO this should be treated as a split of equals, but since I-94’s numbers are used throughout downtown, and I-90 is treated as a left exit, I see your point.

I disagree but see your argument and will change it. (Did we get an explanation at the Chicago meet about why 67th suddenly becomes Marquette just east of there?)

US 12/US 20/US 41:  EwiAve should be EwiAve_S.
I do not believe this should be treated as incorrect. I will admit that for US 41, US12/20 near here should be US12/20_W.

1.   It looks like MacAve_N should just be MacAve.
2.   57thSt should be 57thDr.
The October 2021 GMSV, but ONLY that one, says 57th St. Earlier views with the sign on the stoplight pole closer to the right end, and Google Maps itself, say 57th Dr. I assume you’re correct here, with the second assumption that 57th Street and 57th Drive meet at Cornell Drive at the northwest corner of the museum.

Of course that’s one of the points currently in use. :P

IL 394:  SaukTr should be SaukTrl.
I admire the ability of our mappers to be using every point along IL 394.

I agree, and will change both for consistency.

Yeah, I have had those issues with GSV for a while.

I think I-190 is fine as-is location-wise with how it still merges EB onto I-90 before Cumberland.

Not that I remember.  (Though I did expect disagreement on the location of the 59B point.)

I presume it already would be if the concurrency did not cross state lines. (and I am unsure if changing US12/20 in IN should be pushed on mapcat)

I wish we had a laughing emoji here.
