US23 downtown Columbus
« on: July 21, 2024, 03:08:19 pm »
I was mulling around Columbus yesterday, and I noticed a slight change to US23's routing at the south end of downtown. In order to get from High St to the 3rd/4th St couplet, US23 looks like it used to take Livingston (EB) and Fulton (WB) as a couplet. Now, it seems to take Fulton (EB) and Mound (WB) as a couplet. Going SB, here's the signage for the left turn at Mound (old green signs in the background no longer have a US23 Fulton St sign), and the right turn onto High. And going NB, here's the signage for the right turn on Fulton (whose one way has now shifted the other direction in recent years). I don't have signage for the left turn onto 4th, as it's from 2021 when Fulton went one way west, but there are reassurance signs on Fulton St (wonderful, easy to see placement /s), and the on the first one on 4th St, before Mound.

My note in regard to this was:  "Maybe add point at Mound St due to southbound relocation. (https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=5293.msg2672704#msg2672704)"

I was otherwise thinking no-build at the time, but it looks like you cannot turn left from Livingston anymore.

Thanks. Relocations made. https://github.com/TravelMapping/HighwayData/pull/7588

Some .lists will be broken since the I-70/71 point on US 23 was deleted. The 3rd St/4th St segments are still part of US 33.

I must not have clicked the Post button, but I had intended to state that now is a good time to change US33_S on US 23 to US33_E.

Meh. It's drafted as a S-N route despite the signage.

I would have thought that we would have treated US 33 here similar to US 52.  (https://forum.travelmapping.net/index.php?topic=3347.msg16533#msg16533)

Of course, if this was Indiana, I would not even bring it up.

Is this a rule, or one of two options?
