AL/FL: I-10 border point
« on: August 17, 2024, 09:12:31 pm »
So, want some opinions here.  Currently, we have the point at the FL/AL signage on the bridge.

However, I believe that the signage is put in the wrong place.  Google, OSM, & even the USGS layer in the HB, believe the border point to be here instead: 30.573688, -87.412240.  However, ESRI agrees with the road signage location above.

FDOT GIS data says it's here: 30.574103, -87.414185 @ the western end of the bridge, but I believe that to be there since I think FDOT fully maintains the bridges @ the border.

MM's on FL's side are useless here, as from the 1MM, Google says the border would be at the giant FL Welcome signs well away from the bridge.

So, does anybody have official border files for AL/FL to clear this up?

https://www.floridahealth.gov/%5C/environmental-health/radiation-control/_documents/regs/floceanboundaries.pdf

According to this Florida document, which references its Constitution, the state border would be in the middle of the Perdido River.  That's good enough for me.  So apologies on "jumping the gun" but I've submitted a pull request tweaking the point to the middle of the river on satellite imagery, which also more or less matches OSM.

All good froggie.  I've updated my 'offline' copy of I-10 to match so no issues in the future.

Also, could you check your PMs please and respond to one I sent you awhile back?  I'd appreciate it. ;)
