New User here with a question or two...
« on: January 14, 2025, 08:49:38 am »
I think it'll be best to just use an example and hope my question is clear.

I have driven the highway between Katowice and Wroclaw in Poland called A4 nationally. It is entered like this:

POL A4 4 45

That, of course, includes DK5 and, most notably, E40.

I do not have E40 in my log file but the system picks it up and logs it anyway. I understand that.

My question is: When I look at the map of Polish highways (https://travelmapping.net/user/mapview.php?units=miles&u=leshii&rg=POL), the road is highlighted in blue, which is the color for Poland's Autrostrada. E40 is not shown.

So, two questions:

1. Is there a hierarchy built into the visualization across multiple systems? (I know I can go to the system to see only E-routes).
2. Is there any benefit to capturing the duplicate listings in my log file? (ie, adding "POL E40 4(A4) 43(A4)").

Thanks.

Welcome to Travelmapping :)

1. Is there a hierarchy built into the visualization across multiple systems? (I know I can go to the system to see only E-routes).

It's organized by tiers. They are numbered 1 to 5. 1 = pola, 2 = pols, 3 = eure, 4 = poldk, 5 = poldw / eurtr. You can see the tier number in the highway browser but not on mapview. The latter only features the legend ordered by tiers but without indicating the tier index.

2. Is there any benefit to capturing the duplicate listings in my log file? (ie, adding "POL E40 4(A4) 43(A4)").

No advantage. Just disadvantages in case an E route would be moved from a DK route onto a new pola or pols route since you'd be credited for the newly opened pola or pols route that you'd likely not yet traveled.
