6-Month+ Highway Data Outlook / FL: FLTpk new exit (NW 170th St)
« Last post by rickmastfan67 on November 12, 2024, 09:46:48 pm »
There's currently an interchange under construction along the FL Turnpike between Exits 35 (US-27) & 39 (I-75) @ NW 170th Street.  No idea when it will be opening, but wanted to make this thread so if somebody spotted it being opened, they could let me know about it.

Already had a 'shaping' point in that area, so I have already adjusted it to the location of the future interchange.  All I would have to do is just rename it to whatever exit number they give it.

US 41/US 98 FL, realignments in Brooksville

Interesting realignment.  Might expose some hidden state routes here.  Will have to keep an eye on it.
My guess is that 45 will be rerouted to stick with 41, and 50A will be truncated to just the west half. The only bits that could get exposed are being given to the city.

Solved Highway data updates / CO: CO-21/US-24 missing interchange
« Last post by rickmastfan67 on November 12, 2024, 07:54:28 pm »
This is between the two point along the multiplex.

There was a sole on-ramp to NB CO-21/EB US-24 for quite some time there.  However, it seems like now they are fully building out the interchange there to remove the at-grade intersection with Airport Road. (GSV)

Only thing I don't know for sure is if they're going to 'officially' reroute Airport Road to the interchange once they close the at-grade intersection, or if the new road is going to be an extension of Stewart Avenue instead.  Or it might be half/half.

So, you're choice on how you'd want to name it (probably will get an exit number once opened fully however).  But since that one ramp is already there and open, recommend at least adding the point in now centered on where the overpass will be.

US 14/US 83 SD (replacing their bypass routes in Pierre)

I heard about that at the office a while back, DOT wants trucks to stop going under the railroad bridge downtown, and I changed the OSM truck route to help out.

This also would apparently entail the rerouting of SD 1804 and the creation of a new SD 1889 (why did they do that why, I get the year thing but SD 199 would fit so much better).

Thanks to this, I now know who's in charge of highway numbering in SD and can now send them emails...

I can draft up a system here within the next couple days or so.

I-440 AR, replacing AR 440
US 41/US 98 FL, realignments in Brooksville
US 12 MN, realignment in Willmar
US 64 BUS/US 70 BUS, NC, elimination of Morganton business routes
US 311 NC, truncated to NC 74 (Future I-74)
I-99 PA, adding to US 15 from Williamsport to NY Line, no application here in regard to eliminating US 15 between Williamsport and I-86 or an elimination of US 15 BUS in Mansfield, PA (though that could be somewhat replaced with an extension of PA 660) I-99 Future (Mansfield) in HB, but only covered north of US 220
US 14/US 83 SD (replacing their bypass routes in Pierre)
I-69E TX, extension south to Kingsville along US 77
US 58 VA, Four-lane realignment west of Damascus that was opened earlier this year (there are multiple applications involving widening (not sure why that was necessary as we only care about the realignment) in HB

Apparently I-169 is now signed to some extent (https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?msg=2951019) (though some speculate that this may be another AI group on FB that reported it).  I-57 will soon be for anyone that has paid attention to the I-57 thread on the AARoads Forum.

In-progress Railway Systems & Work / Re: Discussion regarding airside people movers
« Last post by bejacob on November 12, 2024, 11:23:37 am »
Anyone can buy a plane ticket and get on the train. This isn't like the US Capitol Subway or other private/highly restricted systems, which you need to be a member or employee of Congress to ride.

My standard of significance would be "can anyone ride this without being an employee or guest somewhere?" If the only barrier is purchasing a ticket, it's no harder than riding some long-distance rail lines, which we are already including in some countries.

I agree with this.

Having considered this topic for a while, I'm in favor of adding this system. I'm in agreement with the comments above.

The "barrier" of having to purchase a ticket is not really much different than having to pay a toll to use a turnpike. Also, IIRC there are a few airports where you can get a visitors pass including some that have airside people movers (DTW, PIT and SEA come to mind but I haven't checked lately to see if this is still a thing).

I'd love it if at least a US airside people mover system could be created.

Should this be moved to the "Solved" board since nothing's really changed?
