SD: SD 17 split near Lennox?
« on: December 15, 2016, 01:23:10 am »
So I drove through Lennox today and the only sign for SD 17 on SD 44 was a JCT SD 17 sign heading east. Additionally, the State Highway Data Viewer (http://sdbit.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=30de192d46ac429a8f544f8fc719b625) shows the part of 17 in Lincoln County but outside Lennox city limits as not a state highway.

Thoughts?

Additionally, when I went through there this summer, SD 17 was closed in Lennox proper; maybe that's when the signs were removed.

According to the Mitchell Area Highway Log (I was curious), SD 17 does not exist between 278th St. and Minnehaha County.

I'll try to get around there sometime to see if they've posted end signs.

In March of this year I drove down SD 17 from SD 44 eastbound to SD 42 and did not notice anything unusual. Although I took no pictures, the end sign for SD 17 heading north didn't appear until SD 42, and when traveling on SD 42 westbound, there were signs for SD 17 southbound. According to my personal knowledge, it appears as though SD 17 is still signed from SD 44 to SD 42.
