MI: MI-5 extended to Cass Avenue in Detroit
« on: December 25, 2016, 10:27:47 am »
According to Michigan Highways, http://michiganhighways.org/listings/M-005.html, in April-May 2016, MI-5 was extended from I-96 to Cass Avenue in Detroit replacing an internal unsigned state trunkline route (designated internally by MDOT as "Old BS I-96"). The extension is fully signed and has an END MI-5 bannered shield at Cass.
New waypoints should be at Livernois Ave, Joy Rd and Grand Blvd (all for access to I-96 interchanges), I-94, MI-10, I-75.

Good catch. MDOT hasn't caught up with the change yet in their public GIS, but I found one of the new markers just west of Cass:

https://www.google.com/maps/@42.3345498,-83.0544855,3a,15y,316.32h,88.72t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sR8UAVDqZbd3zUtDApyFmfA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

Those waypoints make sense, as does one at I-96(187). All added, and point locations were adjusted to match the Grand River Ave overpasses at each interchange.

Does it mean the topic can be marked solved (and removed to "Solved Highway data updates" one day)?

Yes, but I'd like to wait a few days for comments.

Let's be patient. When I responded, I had just submitted the pull request, so the site hadn't been updated yet. Jim's schedule might not permit immediate updates for a while, so it's likely the OP won't see confirmation of the change right away, which also tells me the comment shouldn't disappear prematurely.

Re: moving topics to solved, I don't think there needs to be a great rush.  I'd like to see the topics left unlocked and not moved to solved for maybe a week minimum after a fix is live on the site.  Those who made the fixes can go through occasionally to move things to reduce clutter but I don't think there's any harm if that only happens say every couple weeks or once a month.

On the updates page, the fix for this references MI-10, instead of MI-5.

My two cents:
Marking as solved is no problem; the OP can still reply to the thread.
Moving something to the "solved" subforum is no issue for me personally, as I follow the "O HAY, new posts here" icons from the front page to find new & updated threads. Looking for an updated thread in "solved" should be pretty intuitive, but I can see it as being easier/more intuitive for some users to just go find the thread in the subforum where they originally posted it.

I'll fix this for the next update, thanks.
