PA: PA 18 in Rochester
« on: September 02, 2018, 04:09:18 pm »
I am working on recentering and checking points along PA 18.  I get to Rochester and see the following posted:

PA 18 NB follows Rhode Island Ave, Brighton Ave, Madison St, and Delaware Ave to PA 65 NB.
PA 18 SB follows PA 65 SB all the way to the ramp to Pleasant St and to head back to Rhode Island Ave.

I am really unsure how to best handle this one due to potential missing points anyway.  I will almost certainly be editing PA 65, PA 51, and/or PA 68's file whatever I do.

EDIT:  I see yakra did something in November 2016; however, I do not think this fully solved the issue.  Most specifically, I believe we are missing a point for PA 68.

I could treat this similar to doing one-way streets with having a point for PA 68 between PA 65 and PA 18.  I may then relabel the point at the roundabout on PA 68, and then ultimately start the PA 65/PA 18 concurrency where PA 18 NB merges onto PA 65 NB from Delaware Ave.

EDIT 2:  Even though PA 18 SB is not posted on PA 18 NB's routing at the interchange with PA 65, there are enough PA 18 SB shields in Rochester on PA 18 NB's routing to justify me just using that.  There will be an edit for PA 68 to line it up with PA 18 at the roundabout.

I remember doing that, and that it was a bit difficult.
Beyond that, I don't really recall exactly what I did and why.
Having a closer look at the DIFFs, ignoring all the https -> http changes...

I've yet to take a closer look at any of this in WPTedit.

Edited the points at I-70 to be lined up on PA 18. It could be technically the wrong way to do it due to the I-70 WB ramps, but the I-70 EB ramps connect directly to PA 18 so I decided to center the points there anyway.
Your solution looks like a Good Thing to me.

Considering this as solved minus further objections.

Wikipedia does mention two PA 18 Truck routes but I included neither.  The Washington one just follows I-70 WB to the next exit and turns back around to access PA 18 via the EB off-ramp.  (to keep trucks off Wylie Ave).

The PA 18 Truck in New Castle probably does not exist anymore as the bridge was recently rehabbed.

One final PA 18 fix: https://github.com/TravelMapping/HighwayData/pull/2195

I can partially verify from field observations last month. References to PA 18 Truck on routes I've traveled are no longer there.

I added a shaping point on PA 51 and PA 65 in this area to keep the line for PA 51 and PA 65 south of the PleSt point on PA 18.
