IA: US6
« on: June 22, 2016, 05:34:24 pm »
Looks like there might be a problem with the concurrencies on the new routing of US6 in Council Bluffs, IA.

I've clinched I-480 in IA, driven I-29 between waypoints 48 and 53B, and I-80 between waypoints 1A and 8, all of which should be concurrent with the new routing of US6. Somehow there seems to be a gap showing on US6 between waypoints I-29(53a) and I-29(53B) see http://tm.teresco.org/hb/?u=bejacob&r=ia.us006.

I'll be updating my IA US6 waypoints on my next list file so this problem will eventually go away on my stats, but I thought someone might want to look a little closer into the new routing of US6 to see what's going on with what should be a concurrency.

I found the mismatched point and fixed it.  It will be good in the next site update.

Is there a code fix/point edit I need to make in my basefile?

I don't remember the specific change.  Best to grab a current copy from GitHub.

Just drove I-80 West past the area where US 6 in our data is now supposed to be concurrent with I-80 and can report that the signage does not yet reflect this change.  The exit ramp at 8 is for US 6 (not just US 6 East), I saw a reassurance marker on US 6 West from there, and there is no US 6 signage concurrent with I-80 from 8 westbound.

I checked this out last night and the signs eastbound from Nebraska indicate that US6 goes through Council Bluffs and all the reassurance signs are still there through town and no signs on I-80 east or west.  IA 192 is still signed on the route and on I-29 & I-29/I-80 too.  With the reconstruction, I could see the US6 signs being part of the new signs that construction isn't ready for yet.

I just drove I-80 to the US 6 interchange, and now US 6 is signed concurrently with I-80 and the signs for those following US 6 west approaching the area clearly indicate that US 6 joins I-80.  So the signs have caught up with TM.

Added bonus: construction delays looked bad on I-80 so I had a good excuse to pick up US 6 from that interchange to where it rejoins I-80 near Atlantic.  Quick, scenic, and relaxing drive.

I drove I-29 south a couple weeks ago; US 6 is signed along there too.

I concur with Jim on that (followed him the following day and looked in both directions)

US 6 is fully signed (well, side-pole-signed) on I-29 and I-80 and the routing is reflected in the HB so this should be closed.
