OH: OH220 has incorrect routing east of Piketon
« on: December 20, 2020, 09:07:54 pm »
The routing of OH220 is incorrect in the HB. OH220 no longer follows Zahns Corner Rd and Beaver Creek Rd. At waypoint ZahCorRd, the route does not turn, but instead goes straight along Schuster Rd to OH32/124. OSM still shows the old routing, though Google Maps does have the updated info. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.0552461,-82.9617937,17z. I'm not entirely clear on when the change in routing and signage was made, but it appears that it was several years ago. Not sure why OSM hasn't caught up.

GMSV image of the current intersection.

The intersection of OH220 and OH32/124 in the HB is about 1.5 miles east of where the actual signed intersection is today.

Field checked on 12/20/2020.

Not sure why OSM hasn't caught up.

Probably since nobody local has checked it yet and updated OSM.  Since you said you field checked it, you could always tweak it in OSM.

Since you said you field checked it, you could always tweak it in OSM.

After taking a quick glance at how to update OSM, even this small tweak looks a wee bit beyond my current skill level. If I can find the time to educate myself, I may consider making such edits some time down the road. Even without the underlying OSM update, it might still be worth updating the Travel Mapping HB since all the roads currently exist in OSM even if they are labeled incorrectly.

I appreciate the suggestion on editing OSM. Looks like it could be a worthwhile thing to know how to do.

I would try using JOSM to edit OSM.  It's a little easier to understand, and you're less likely to accidentally edit something you didn't want to edit.

If you try it out and have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me, as when I do edit OSM, I personally always use JOSM.

Thanks for the report and investigation.

The OH220 point in both the OH 32 & OH 124 files is in use, so the old location has been preserved as GerRd (Germany Rd).
