FL: FL559 Relocation + FL559A Signed
« on: March 06, 2021, 10:55:25 pm »
I went out of my way a little bit to field check the FL559 relocation around Auburndale today while enroute to clinch FL538.

SR 559A is now signed on C Fred Jones Blvd and the southbound reassurance shield for SR 559 just south of C Fred Jones Blvd near I-4 has been replaced with a county pentagon CR 559.

SR 559 is now signed on Berkley Rd (CR 655) at the intersection of C Fred Jones Blvd and at the intersection of US 92 where it terminates.
However, county pentagons for CR 655 are still undisturbed on Berkley Rd at Denton Ave.

Both of these routes still have the "TRUCK ROUTE" banner signed above them in the same configuration as before with the county pentagons.

In downtown Auburndale, while on US 92, I observed a northbound reassurance shield for SR 559 still in place on Main St. The directional assembly for SR 559 on eastbound US 92 was removed.

So...SR 559 has two separate north-south segments, joined by east-west SR 559A? Yuck.
And what has become of the recent extension south of US 92?

Yep. w e i r d

And what has become of the recent extension south of US 92?
I didn't go south from there to check myself, but I presume it is removed from the State Highway System per the GIS and a transfer agreement memo Alex posted about on AARoads https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=2017.msg2496474#msg2496474

A couple of additional documents I located describe the agreement and say the segment south of US 92 is to be owned by the City of Auburndale.

theFXexpert, did you see any '559F' shields as well for "Bay Lake Resort Road" @ FL-559A?  According to the FDOT GIS dated March 6th, 2021, that's now on the State system up to the first entrance to the Love's there.

Also, where's the 'first' CR-559 shield south of 559A?  According to the GIS, that's still 559 down to the end of the divided part (just south of the U-turn intersection).

One last thing, has the FL-559, FL-559A, CR-655 intersection been realigned?  GIS is showing that there's a small jog to the north.  Can't see any obvious construction in either StreetView or any Sat imagery.  However, Google shows a properly line there that falls in line with the GIS alignment. https://goo.gl/maps/MXnKUuocjV46pVHy5

On another note, 4 people will have to adjust their US92 entry due to using the 'FL559' point since the label will have to move to the west to the 'current' CR655 location.

US-92:
CR655 -> FL559 +CR655
FL559 -> MainSt

NE2, roukan, wadsteckel, htm_duke = all use the current 'FL559' point in the US-92 file.  Only NE2 updates via Github, but both htm_duke & wadsteckel have accounts here on the forum.  As for roukan, they'll loose some mileage, but it's better than gaining it, as they had "FL US92 US19Alt FL559' in the list file.

So, PM's sent to both htm_duke & wadsteckel.  NE2 doesn't need to be alerted, as he's already posted in the thread here, so he should hopefully see this message and adjust his file in preparation of me submitting an update once I hear back from theFXexpert on the few Q's I had.

I did not locate any 559F signs. I did not have a good look in the direction of the Loves entrance.

The first southbound CR 559 shield is just south of the gore point of the jughandle. Approximately where an old SR 559 shield was in google streetview.

No. The intersection geometry is identical to how it appears in the most recent Google imagery.
The jog follows an old alignment: https://goo.gl/maps/Vn8sjFGEVcgrViNy7

Hmmmm.  Guess I'll just end FL-559 @ FL-559A then.  I'll be hiding all the 'in-use' labels south of 559A under it's label in the file, so nobody will have a broken file for that route.  So, if they had a clinch, they'll still have it since the other 559 is a completely different route due to the gap being filled by 559A.

Weird that the GIS still shows the old route then.  Don't make any sense, especially since it seems they have that segment of 559 ending in the proper location on the northern end.

Anyways, I'll get this all submitted sometime tomorrow.

I’m trying to understand what’s going on here.  It’s funny that I’m actually delivering to Lakeland tomorrow, so will be near the area.

My file shows me that I’ve been on FL 559 from FL655 to I-4, and on US 92 from FL 559 east to US 27.  I may drive US 92 straight through after my delivery on Frontage Rd near exit 27 to get over to US 27, which I think will solve my own issue within my file....?  Of course, my main issue is going where a 75 ft vehicle is allowed.

and on US 92 from FL 559 east to US 27.

This will be your issue since I have to move the 'FL559' label (that point to become labeled as 'MainSt') in US-92's file to a new location (the current CR655 label in US-92's file).

=====

As for FL599's file itself, I'll be hiding all the 'in-use' labels that are south of I-4 under the new 'FL559A' point.  So nobody will be getting an error with that route, just a little bit of mileage lost, since the new segment of FL-559 that was put ontop of CR-655 is a completely separate route due to the gap between the two being filled by FL-559A.

I've fixed my US92 point.  So, FL599 is now FL599A?  Is that in the system yet?

So, FL599 is now FL599A?

No, the 'original' FL-559 is still the same route in the HB, going between FL-33 & now having it's southern end at the new FL-559A instead of formerly ending at FL-655.  I just hid any in-use labels that people had on FL-559 that were south of FL-559A under the new FL559A label for the route so people's entries for FL-559 didn't get broken.

FL-559A is a completely new highway in the HB.

Same goes for the new segment of FL-559 that's along the former CR-655. (This is the re-route that required the point location moving on US-92.)

All these changes are now live on the site as of 3/10.

I drove the routes today and can confirm. FDOT was lazy in the middle; there's one whole intersection that's still signed as CR 655.

These signs at Denton Avenue? It's still there as of this Monday.

What a weird setup.
