ON/QC: ON/QC-148 new bridge across border
« on: March 30, 2021, 04:34:01 am »
So, just randomly checking out the route in the HB, and I noticed that there's a new bridge for it just to the East of the original bridge.

So, I suggest that we move the border point to the following location for both routes:

ON/QC http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=45.807272&lon=-77.042452

Does this location work for you oscar?

It's a really small shift, so I don't think it's a news worthy update mention (beyond this post).  Do you concur on this oscar?

I agree with the proposed new border point, and also that it's minor enough not to require an Updates table entry (just another bridge replacement, which I would not consider a de-clinch of my travels on that part of ON/QC 148, and I doubt any of our other users would disagree).

Hm. If it's on a new alignment, why not make an update entry and let users decide?

The new border point is only 0.02 mile from the old border point. I don't think we should be cluttering the Updates table with such minor bridge replacement realignments. We routinely ignore such realignments, only here it requires a tweak to a border point.

https://github.com/TravelMapping/HighwayData/pull/4645 has no accompanying Update table edit. If rickmastfan67 thinks an Updates entry is warranted, he can submit one for ON 148 that also covers QC 148.

Yeah, this isn't like when they opened the new Bay Bridge on I-80 which had a significant reroute for the bridge alignment (and not just beside it like here).

I'll submit the ON tweak sometime tonight.
