A4 has 16 travelers:

Some A4 (and concurrent E50) labels to be renumbered are labels in use. I generally kept them as alt labels and added "a" suffix to the new label. E.g. renumbered exit 45 got alt label 46 and exit 46 is now called 46a:

Code: [Select]

+X64 http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=48.769679&lon=7.639720
47 http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=48.748402&lon=7.684092

-->

Code: [Select]
45 +46 http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=48.769230&lon=7.597389
+X64 http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=48.769679&lon=7.639720

Here's the in use labels that have changed, but left as alts, meaning an 'a' down the line that shouldn't really be there.

A4:
  • 40 -> 38
  • 42 -> 41
  • 44 -> 43
  • 46 -> 45
E50:
  • 27(A4) -> 24(A4)
  • 35(A4) -> 33(A4)

PS: going and changing my .list file, my reference to E50 27(A4) was made an alt label, but my A4 27 wasn't - you did give me extra travels despite the effort to not do that.

I don't get how it happened. It is not possible to rename a label in use with the standard functions of the wpt editor. Had I loaded the wrong "labels in use"? Fixed: https://github.com/TravelMapping/HighwayData/pull/5327

This reminds me of when I tried to keep labels on I-95 in PA when I should not have about a month after I started maintaining PA.  (https://forum.travelmapping.net/index.php?topic=2321.msg12291#msg12291)

SOP in this situation in my understanding would be to include an updates entry due to the renumbered exits instead of doing the XXa label to preserve in-use labels.  I know we just had a disagreement with how I handled the I-90/I-94 IL exit reorganizing update by Highway63, but this is exactly why we saw updates entries from yakra when he did the MA renumbering (https://forum.travelmapping.net/index.php?topic=7.0).

I've experienced that many users don't update their list files. Just going with an update entry would credit users for sections they didn't travel. And I tried to avoid updated entries like we discussed for I-90/I-94 the other day.

Unless someone else is using A4 27 (I'm not now), that's not fixed, but the opposite. There, ideally, shouldn't be 'a' suffixes where such things don't belong.

Plus there's this:
SOP in this situation in my understanding would be to include an updates entry due to the renumbered exits instead of doing the XXa label to preserve in-use labels.
which is what I thought too.

This is why I listed the points where people ought to tweak their list entry to have the new label, and then did it on my own .list.
